How to Prepare for IELTS Exam

Listening
The IELTS Listening exam is a 30-minute test that assesses an individual’s ability to understand spoken English in various contexts and requires the demonstration of understanding of main ideas, details, and the development of an argument, as well as the speaker’s attitude and purpose.
Speaking
The IELTS Speaking exam is a one-on-one test with an examiner that assesses an individual’s ability to communicate effectively in spoken English, including the ability to express and justify opinions, describe experiences and events, and discuss and argue a point.
Reading
The IELTS Reading exam is a 60-minute test that assesses an individual’s ability to understand written English in various contexts and requires the demonstration of understanding of main ideas, details, and the development of an argument, as well as the writer’s purpose and attitude.
Writing
The IELTS Writing exam is a 60-minute test that assesses an individual’s ability to write in clear, well-organized English, including the ability to express and support an opinion, describe a situation, and summarize and discuss information from a given source.
There are two versions of the IELTS exam:
the Academic version, intended for those pursuing higher education or certain professions, and the General Training version, intended for non-academic training, work experience, or immigration. The exam consists of four modules – Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking – and scores range from “Band 1” (non-user) to “Band 9” (expert user). The IELTS score is valid for two years. The exam takes 2 hours and 50 minutes to complete.
